Hi Team,

Does anybody knows the reason why Palakkad is the only tourist hot spot in Kerala, keeping the proud " God's Own Country" ?

Hi All,

I know that it is really difficult for all to answer my tricky question. But it is simple.

Here's the Answer.

There are few reasons, why Palakkad is the only District in Kerala, keeping the proud " God's Own Country".

1. Palakkad District itself  in Kerala is blessed with Heritage Sites, Pilgrim Sites, Beautiful Gardens, Lakes, Dams, Reservoirs, Rivers, Hill Stations, Wild Life, National Park, Tiger Reserve, Rain Forest, Tea / Coffee / Pepper / Orange / Passion Fruit Estates and Palakkad City is even suited for best shopping for all ! Nelliyampathy in Palakkad is the only Hill Station in South India, where we can see Orange Plantations.

2. All the Tourist Attractions in Palakkad District are amazing and popular, but None of them except Palakkad City is not yet commercialized till now and hence tourist can enjoy the beauty of Nature in Palakkad District rather than other tourist attractions in Kerala as all other attractions in Kerala are heavily commercialized and totally destroyed the Nature.

3. Silent Valley National Park, Parambikulam Tiger Reserve & Nelliyampathy (All are in Palakkad District) are declared as UNESCO World Heritage Sites in India as part of Nilgiris Biosphere Reserve in the Western Ghats and Silent Valley is the only best Rain Forest in India as per UNESCO.

4. Palakkad locals are very much proud for their Hospitality and they will always follow the terms "Atithi Devo Bhav". Tourist can experience the same during their Palakkad visit, which is happening very rare in other Kerala Attractions. Even Food is also better in Palakkad.

5. Tourist will have tendency to revisit Palakkad Tourist attractions, once they visit over there due to its beauty.

Hence Palakkad is the "Real God's Own Country"!

Hi Supriya,

Nice to hear from you that you are planning to visit Kerala.

Please note that Wayanad is located in the North of Kerala and Thekkady is located in the South of Kerala and it will take long time to reach each destination if you plan the same in one trip and you can't enjoy anywhere within 7 Days as per this plan. Normally tourists will plan either  North Kerala or South Kerala in one trip or it will be totally crash!! So better you can decide either North Kerala or South Kerala

I can suggest you the below options, if you don't mind..

Option 01: North & Central Kerala

Day 01: Mangalore Airport Pick-Up - Bekal

Day 02: Bekal- Kannur

Day 03: Kannur - Calicut

Day 04 : Calicut -Wayanad

Day 05: Wayanad

Day 06: Wayanad- Palakkad & Malampuzha

Day 07: Palakkad - Coimbatore / Cochin Airport Drop

(Note: There are so many railway level crossings in between Kannur & Calicut and it will take time to reach Calicut due to this)

Option 02 (A): Central & South Kerala

Day 01: Cochin

Days 02 & 03: Munnar

Day 04: Thekkady

Day 05: Athirappilly

Day 06: Nelliyampathy or Palakkad

Day 07: Cochin Airport Drop

Option 02 (B): Central & South Kerala (In case you have already visited Munnar)

Day 01: Cochin

Day 02 : Thekkady

Day 03: Alappuzha

Day 04: Athirappilly

Day 05: Nelliyampathy

Day 06: Palakkad & Malampuzha

Day 07: Cochin Airport Drop

Option 02 (c): Central & South Kerala (In case you have already visited Cochin & Munnar)

Day 01: Coimbatore Airport Pick-Up- Palakkad

Day 02 : Nelliyampathy

Day 03: Guruvayur Temple & Snehatheeram Beach

Day 04: Athirappilly

Day 05: Kumarakom backwaters

Day 06: Vagamon Hill Station

Day 07: Cochin Airport Drop

Thanks

Thanks Charles,

Most of the Tour Operators in Kerala and other Malayalee Tour Operators, settled in all part of  India were lobbying since 30 Years to avoid Palakkad in the tourism sector and also they were playing a big role to discriminate Palakkad by telling their clients that "Nothing is there to see in Palakkad " and also " Palakkad is having a very high temperature throughout the year and doesn't have rain due to Palghat Gap" etc etc and hence many tourists and other State tour operators trusted this Malayalee operators since a long time. But the situation has changed recently as you know the principle "For any action, there will be an opposite reaction at least in the future" and thus it happened in 2012. Tourists from worldwide came to know about Palakkad and it's beautiful attractions and started visiting Palakkad from world wide without tour packages from Tour Operators and now we can say that their Kerala tour will not complete without visiting Palakkad !! Few High Officials from United Nations and UNESCO, visited Palakkad recently and hence more tourists got awareness about Palakkad

So the question is who became fool?  Tour Operators or Tourists?  It is 100 % sure that Tour Operators & Travel Portals only became fool as they only lose very good business to Palakkad due to their foolish marketing policy and discrimination. But Tourist, who really want to visit Palakkad will definitely visit without fail. Right?

Cheers!!

Thanks Biju, so kind of u for sharing ur valuable opinions, actually kerala is 'problematic' in terms of 'problem of plenty'. Tell me one more thing how could I connect pallakad and waywand, is there any beach option in between? Ur option 2b sounds good to my taste. Is it necessary to book rooms in advance? I'll prefer home stays where it is convenient. Regards

Hi

Thanks for your reply.

Yes.  " Kappad Beach" and " Kozhikode Beach" are located in Calicut.

It is around 190 KM in between Palakkad and Wayanad and it will take around 8 Hours to reach Wayanad from Palakkad and vice versa. There is no express highway in this route and hence more time to reach.

Wayanad to Thekkady is around 400 KM one way and it will take more than 12 Hours to reach. Hence we do not suggest these two destinations in one trip.

We do tour packages / Homestay / Hotel / Resort booking throughout India wherever available. Please send us your email id so that we can give you the full package asap. Also like to get your approximate traveling month.  Or you can send it to happyvalleytours at gmail dot com

Thanks
