19 th Centrury Pothundi Dam

Pothundi Dam is an irrigation project located at a distance of 42 km from Palakkad at the foot of Nelliyampathy Hills . This Dam is the main site for the Malayalam Film Vinodayathra.

It constructed in the 19th Century by British to provide water to the hilly areas of Nemmara ( a small Village in Palakkad District of Kerala State ). The dam is unusual in being constructed without a conventional concrete core, which is employed in most earth dams to counteract the force exerted by high water pressure. The core is made up of a mixture of Jaggery and quick lime and Surki.

Preferred Destinations for South India Tour from Bangalore (Part 01)

We know that most of the tourists take Bangalore- Mysore- Ooty Tour Package for their South India Tour since long time. It is really good only as they can get awareness about Heritage Sites and Nature during the trip. But, my suggestion is, it will be more good, if they can add Coorg and Malampuzha in this same package as these amazing destinations are fastest growing tourist hot spots in South India and hence their trip will be more enjoyable and memorable due to less journey per day.
