Blessings by elephants likely to stop in India

Elephants offering ‘blessings’ to pilgrims is likely to be a thing of the past in temples of south Indian state Tamil Nadu, reports Press Trust of India (PTI).

The state wildlife department has asked the temple authorities in the state to put an end to the age-old practice considering the hardships suffered by jumbos which are made to do the act.

“Trainers are forcing the animal to bless the devotees. They do not mind torturing them to get money from the pilgrims who visit temples.
