Har ki Dun Trek: Uttaranchal

Having no crossing to snow-laden passes or precarious crevasses, Har ki dun is moderate hike through strikingly varied vegetation and a fine introduction to trekking into Garhwal Himalayas. Known for color-riots of rhododendron, Har ki dun is a well defined trail to the alpine meadows sitting in the lap of majestic Swargarohini range. Trek falls in Govind National park which is known for wild-flowers of medicinal properties. Considered as one of the best treks to understand the relationship between vegetation and altitude, Har ki dun represents distinct transition from Chir pine forest to blue pine to birch groves to alpine meadows. Trek is a favorite for independent hikers as there is no need to carry gears and one can stay in villages en route or GMVN guest houses.
