Hi Sarah,
Itinerary will depend on number of days you have. Tamilnandu is graced with innumerous temples.

                  Typical itinerary would be

Bangalore >> Kanyakumari [ Spend 2 evenings at least, its really amazing place, there are many temples nearby ]

You can directly head to Rameswaram. [ Do not miss Dhanushkodi ].

then head back to Madurai [ I could only go to meenakashi temple ].

you can come back to Trichi and then go to Thanjavur [ must visit ] and Kumbakonam ( people say that you need at least 2 days to visit all the temples of this region ).

From Trichi..you can head back to Bangalore.

I am also traveling to Bangalore.. Will drop you my local number once i will get one.

Keep traveling

Hi Sarah,
From Kumbakonam, you can head to Chidambaram and then further north to Pondicherry till chennai.

This way you can also cover the famous shore temple of Mahabalipuram. Mahabalipuram is an amazing site to visit. but again everything depends on the number of days you are planning to. Tamilnandu is famous for its innumorous temples.

Note : * for solo travelers its a bit difficult to find a room in Rameswaram and Kanyakumari, Hotel owners are a bit reluctant. Keep the note of it.

If you are planning to do this trip from Bangalore then I will recommend you to do it by bus. Roads are in good shape in this stretch... I will suggest you to take an overnight Bus to Kanyakumari... Visit Kanyakumari... then head to Rameshwar ( Don't miss Dhanushkodi)....

From Rameshwaram you can come back to Madurai and get a Bus to Bangalore...

I will also recommend you to visit Meenakashi temple, Madurai...Head to Trichi..Visit Thanjavur temple, Kumbakonam and then head to Bangalore...

I hope it will be helpful information...

Regards
Vishnu Kumar

I am planning to make a trip to 108 Divyadesams in and around Tamil Nadu! Possibly how many days would it take to complete the darshan? And is it good to go by bus or is there any other means of easy transportation?

These are 108 temples. Should take significant time. There should be buses to all the places though.
