Citation and an Appreciation Award conferred on 20th December, 2015 by Prof. Ravi Kant, Vice Chancellor, King George’s Medical University, Lucknow in the august presence of His Excellency Sh. Ram Nayak Ji, Hon’ble Governor of Uttar Pradesh, who is also the Chancellor of KGMU, Lucknow. Also present on the occasion are the guest of honour Sh. Radhey Shyam Singh Ji, Hon’ble Minister of Medical Education, Uttar Pradesh Pradesh, the Executive and Academic Council of KGMU and a galaxy of eminent doctors of international and national fame.
Felicitation of a rank outsider by KGMU, one of the foremost top level medical institutions of India, on its Convocation Day, is a rare gesture in recognition of generous contribution towards clicking and contributing magnificent photos of KGMU, including cover page photo of its Coffee Table Book which was released on that day itself.
In his address, Hon’ble Governor of UP Sh. Ram Nayak Ji reminisced about his days as Minister Of Petroleum & Natural Gas (1999-2004) and generously lauded the photographs of KGMU clicked and contributed by him.
20th December has now become a red letter day for him for the rest of his life as this day also happens to be his late father’s birth anniversary whom He lost almost four decades ago. He knew all the appreciation and accolades were his blessings from heavens! Gods couldn’t have been more benevolent on him!
Employed as a senior executive with a top ranking Fortune 500 govt. PSU and an alumnus of Lucknow University, An amateur photographer by hobby, Arun’s romance with photography started almost four years ago. What began as a hobby, photography for him soon transformed into a passion and has now transcended to an act of worship.
Arun’s photography traverses across a wide spectrum of genres. To name a few, he has clicked photographs of landscapes, architecture – both monumental and modern, the confluence of cultures like the Shree Ganesh Chaturthi, the Chhat Pooja, the Moharram, Diwali, Eid and Holi celebrations, wildlife – specially birds, city life and portraits et al. His perseverance saw him covering the Maha Kumbh in 2013 at Allahabad, the largest human congregation on the planet earth. Despite restrictions on vehicular movement inside the Kumbh Nagri, so passionate was he to cover this event that in two days he walked around 47 kilometers on foot to click various facets of the Maha Kumbh. While he has deftly used popular photographic styles, aerial and low light photography are his main forte.
Arun has won many awards and appreciations in the field of photography which besides being extremely competitive, also demands highest levels of diligence, patience, concentration, devotion and dogged determination.
A photo gallery captioned ‘Shaan-e-Awadh’ consisting of photos of Lucknow shot by Mr. Arun Khanna has also been commissioned in Lucknow which was inaugurated in June this year by Sh. Amrit Abhijat, IAS, Director General cum Secretary Tourism and MD, UP Tourism Corporation Ltd.

Looking at his accomplishments, Arun Khanna seems to have surely come a long way in such a short span of time in the realm of photography.
Arun has been launching his thematic New Year e-calendar for the last few years which he circulates amongst his friends, well wishers and admirers as a New Year complement and a goodwill gesture.
Thinking Particle is pleased to present Arun’s 2016 e-calendar with ‘Birds’ as its theme. Arun has shot most of these photos at Sandi bird sanctuary near Hardoi in UP while few other photos have been shot while travelling to various places like Allahabad, Faizabad and Lucknow.
